What can I do to improve the quality of the Security film Installation? To reduce the likelihood of dust or pet hair being trapped behind the film/laminate during installation process, close or cover any air vents near the windows and remove pets from the vicinity of the windows. A general vacuum of the area will aid in a cleaner installation.

Should I remove my blinds and draperies prior to your arrival? If any window treatments such as blinds or curtains are obstructing access to the window, it would be a good idea to have them removed. A technician may remove the window treatments for an additional cost at your request. |

When installing these films, what type of product is used? Are they toxic to my family, pets or myself? No. We use a mild soap and water based application, a simple mixture of a mild soap or baby shampoo and distilled water. This type of solution is necessary, for ease and so proper application.

I have a small scratch or crack on my glass. Does this matter? Can you still install Safety Film or Security Laminate? During the inspection and estimate process it is always a good idea to make note and discuss any cracked or scratched panes or broken window seals on the work site. Even minor scratches on the glass surface are a weak point in the glass. Any imperfections as such should be replaced prior to installation of any film. For example, an application of Safety film or Security Laminate will add 'stress' to the weak spot, and eventually cause breakage.

I have organized for another contractor to be at my home while you are installing the Security Film. Is that okay? It is not recommended to have any other contractor, building, or cleaning service such as; vacuuming occur during the installation of any window film. Dust particles become airborne and are often trapped behind the film. The windows are thoroughly cleaned, and every care is taken by the installer to reduce the amount of dust trapped behind the film.

I have noticed a few days after installation of the Security Laminate there is a few 'water bubbles' or 'foggy' spots. What is this? Do they go away? Yes, it will evaporate and dissipate with time. This is present in virtually every installation. The installers attempt to remove as much of the mounting/water solution as possible, a small amount will remain behind the laminate. It resembles small pockets of water or haziness. Drying varies depending on the application and can run from (30) days up to (6) months in extreme cases. Cold weather and the type of laminate you choose affect the length of drying time. Do not be alarmed. Any moisture will eventually dissipate and does not compromise effective protection. Please note that interior windows can be expected to take significantly longer to cure than a window that receives natural sunlight.

How do I care for my new installed film? Is it easy to maintain? Are there any special instructions I should know? After installation of film, it is wise to wait (30) days before cleaning your windows. This gives the laminate enough time to bond to the window and ensure that you don't inadvertently lift the edge of the film while cleaning. Please remember that the film does not have a hard surface of glass and care should be taken not to use a razor blade or any abrasive cleaning materials. Suitable cleaning solutions include; standard ammonia based products, vinegar and water, and soap and water. Be sure to use separate window cleaning materials and water when washing exterior and interior windows at the same time. Water used in the exterior washing may contain particles that will scratch the laminate.

How does something so 'thin' secure my glass from thieves? Our Security Series films and laminates range from 7 - 21 Mil. A heavy-duty polyester film bonded by special adhesives that are simply applied to the interior of new or existing glass. When impacted, the film has very powerful results. The properly installed film absorbs the energy from the attack and disperses it equally throughout the entire pane of glass. Once installed to your window intruders cannot readily penetrate the glass, even by striking it with a heavy implement like a bat or crowbar. Repeated attempts create more noise and take more time before access can be gained. When used in conjunction with other layers of security such as; electronic alarm systems, the level of security increases dramatically.
